Rising Sign

The sign climbing the eastern horizon at your birth — the chart's front door.

Also called the ascendant, the rising sign is the mask-and-doorway: how you enter a room, the first impression, the style your whole chart wears. It changes roughly every two hours, which is why birth time is not a detail.

The rising sign also sets the houses — the map of life-areas the rest of the chart reads against.
