Arcana

From Latin arcanum, "secret" — the two families of cards in a tarot deck.

A tarot deck divides into the Major Arcana — twenty-two archetype cards like the Fool and the Moon — and the Minor Arcana, fifty-six cards across four suits that read like a deck of feelings, actions, thoughts and coins.

The word just means "secrets," in the old library sense: things worth keeping and returning to. Nothing in the arcana requires special gifts to read — only patience and a real question.
